The Story
The victory at the battle of Badr was a significant turning point for the Muslims led by Prophet Muhammad PBUH. That same day, however, news came that his daughter Ruqayya RA passed away. A lesson that this world is passing.
Death is certain. It brings excruciating pain to those that are left behind. But we rarely focus on how the passing of one, in fact, sparks the rebirth of long-lost souls. As time passes, they begin to truly understand that this world is a test. It's a temporary home. "to Him we belong, to Him we must return."
The responsibility of sending prayers, doing charity, and being good on their behalf allows the person to strengthen their own akhirah. They gain closeness to Allah SWT. Prophet Muhammad PBUH said:
"A man's status will be raised in Paradise and he will ask, 'How did I get here?' He will be told, 'By your son's dua's (prayers) for forgiveness for you."
The art symbolizes the stages of grief—disbelief and isolation that hits like a storm following enlightenment and understanding that this world is temporary. Our loved one is simply on the next journey towards this goal. This is a reminder to send the three Quls regularly as they are in need of our prayers.
