The Story
Frequented House
Labaik Allahuma Labaik “I am at Your service, O Allah, I am at Your service..."
Just as we humans perform tawaaf around the Holy Kaaba (House of Allah) on earth, Angels perform Tawaaf around the Kaaba directly above... in the 7th Heaven.
Prophet Muhammad PBUH said in the hadith of the Miraj (Night Journey) after he visited the seventh Heaven: "Then I was shown Bait-ul -Mamur (the Frequented House). I asked Angel Jibreel about it, and he said,
This is Al Bait-ul-Ma'mur where 70,000 angels perform prayers daily, and when they leave, they never return to it (but always a fresh batch comes into it daily till the day of judgment)". [Sahih Bukhari]
Raining Mercy
Ayat Ul Kursi, Surah Fatiha, Surah Ikhlas
This painting symbolizes the mercy that is showered on us when we visit the Holy Kaaba. The gold and silver symbolize the powerful Ayat ul Kursi which has said to be from the thresholds of Allah's throne.
Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, "I have been given Ayat ul Kursi from the treasures under the Arsh of Allah, and it was not given to anyone before me."
It's been said that Allah sends down one hundred and twenty blessings in the precinct of the Kaaba:
1. sixty for those who circumambulate
2. forty for those who worship
3. and twenty for those who look at it
Noor Ala Noor
"Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth." 24:35
The verse of light is known for its remarkable beauty. It's famous for being one of the most intricate verses of the Quran.
The art symbolizes the complete verse of Noor "The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within the glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree..."
Now visualize this. The mishkat (niche) represents the chest of the believer. The glass symbolizes the heart (clear and pure in intention), and the light is the Quran, guidance, and iman from Allah.
Golden Love
"And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought." Quran 30-21
The circular motion symbolizes the idea of infinite love. The intermittent nature of it represents the steadiness of the relationship despite the highs and lows. The verse written in traditional Arabic on the runner that overrides the modern calligraphy implies the strength of a Nikah in the modern age.
